IN CELEBRATION OF OUR FOUNDER, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, 2010

On the 18th day of January, a day of celebration for our founder, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) paid homage to his life, his legacy and to his vision. Dr. King and other clergy founded the SCLC on February 14, 1957 "to redeem the soul of America." As we move forward into 2010, we call to action, the world's community into prayer and into service, as we continue to do the work of Dr. King which is rooted in biblical principles, love, honesty and integrity.

"An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity." - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.    more
